License page redesign

The license page

The License page was designed to allow CopyTrans® applications users to quickly retrieve their product activation code. In 2013, I changed the page design to match the global website refresh. At this time, the project was split between me and an developer internship. The project was fully made in PHP and almost each steps is a dedicated page. Only the first two steps are managed with JavaScript (jQuery).

Redesign 2015 - 2016

By the end of 2015, I decided to refresh the page design to rethink the way info and error messages are displayed to users. This is a side project that I made on my free-time. It has not been used and it is not plan to be released (yet). You can anyway check out the current License page here →

The idea behind was to make this boring form less frustrating, a bit smarter and to simplify the user process.

80% of the visitors that land to this page come from the application's "help" section and the rest from the online support. That means 80% of the users may needs more help (eg. "how to activate my program"). That's why provide a search field to retrieve this kind of info directly from the FAQ was required.

I used ajax requests to prevent multiple pages and so page reloads. I improved the contrast and the info level by using colors to highlight what is really important. Some error messages are displayed in real time such as the email field, for a less blocking experience.

If a user leave the page for any reason, his email address is temporary kept to automatically fill the field once he returns to the page.
